McNerney calls for Army to investigate ailing Stockton private's medical care
STOCKTON — Congressman Jerry McNerney, D-Stockton, is calling on the U.S. Army to launch an investigation into the medical care received by a Stockton private whose untreated case of strep throat during basic training earlier this year developed into a flesh-eating disease that cost him the lower half of his left leg. Writing on behalf of 21-year-old Dez Del Barba, McNerney sent the one-page letter to U.S. Army Secretary Dr. Mark Esper late last week.
